Membership and Collections Assistant.

Canadian Filmmakers Distribution Centre (CFMDC) seeks a Distribution and Collections Assistant. As Canada's foremost not-for-profit media art distribution organization, we are dedicated to securing the availability and promoting the visibility of independent media art works. Since 1967, CFMDC has been a critical source for programmers, institutions, festivals, educators and museums around the world. Based in downtown Toronto with over 4500+ titles in distribution, CFMDC is committed to its role as an advocate for the dissemination of independent visions. The Distribution and Collections Assistant will work collaboratively with CFMDC's team and members to provide distribution and technical assistance in executing our collections maintenance, preservation and digitization plan and public exhibition support for the media in distribution with CFMDC.


Responsibilities include:
● Assisting with membership intake;

● Assisting with CFMDC technical services delivery;

● Assisting with media migration, digitization, and website maintenance;
● Inspecting and reviewing elements of the CFMDC film and video collection;
● Assisting with database and record keeping;
● Assisting with CFMDC accessibility services delivery;

Qualifications:
● Well organized, with an ability to multitask and meet deadlines;
● Exceptional verbal, written and interpersonal communication skills;

● Ability to work in a co-operative environment committed to equity and non-discrimination;
● Awareness of media and moving image technologies;
● Proficiency with Macintosh computers, database and design software.


This job is funded by The Government of Canada
This is a 30 hour a week contract position. $20.00/hour. The position is funded in part through the Young Canada Works at Building Careers in Heritage program, and all applicants must be registered in the YCW candidate pool and meet the current YCW-BCH eligibility criteria. An individual may be eligible for an internship if they:
● are a Canadian citizen or a permanent resident, or have refugee status in Canada (non-Canadians holding temporary work visas or awaiting permanent resident status are not eligible);
● are legally entitled to work in Canada (have a valid social insurance number);

● are between 16 and 30 years of age inclusively at the start of employment; and

● are a college or university graduate (certificate, bachelor's, master's or doctorate).

Note: Priority will be given to graduates that have not previously participated in YCW internship programs and that are unemployed or underemployed.

Must be available to start work May 5, 2025 and work for the duration of the contract to November 16, 2025.
