Jack Chamber’s seminal film The Hart of London (1970) screens as part of “The Hart of London with Work by Farrokhzad, Fonoroff, Solomon, Hoolboom, Jacobs', and Mack.” “The Hart of London was not merely to illustrate suffering, but to redeem perception through old and new myths. It joined a haunting vision of his [Chamber’s] life, his perceptions and rituals, to an anonymous record of his hometown, a stage for paradise and inferno” (Stephen Broomer).
Afrikaeye Festival (Bristol, UK)
Zanele Muholi’s Difficult Love (2010) screens in a double-bill with Claire Lawrie’s Beyond There’s Always A Black Issue Dear (2018). Difficult Love provides a glimpse into Muholi’s life and the lives, loves, and struggles of other black lesbians in South Africa.
Side By Side LGBT Film Festival (Saint Petersburg, Russia)
We’re excited that Shana Myara’s feature doc WELL ROUNDED screens at Russia’s Side By Side Festival. Side By Side has been working since 2007 for LGBTQI+ rights and visibility, facing constant opposition and oppression. Kasseler Dokfest (Kassel, Germany)
221 short and mid-length documentary and experimental films will be presented at Kasseler Dokfest this year, including Kourtney Jackson’s short Wash Day (2020). Wash Day follows three young Black women as they get ready for the day and reflect on body image and sense of self.
Image+nation Montreal LGBT Film Festival (Montreal, QC)

Zanele Muholi’s doc Difficult Love (2010) screens as part of the exhibit “The Naked Body: A Matter of Perspective.” Difficult Love is an intimate portrait of Muholi and her striking photographs of LGBTI people in South Africa.

CFMDC is hosting a virtual book launch for Moments of Perception on November 30 at 6pm EDT. Stay tuned for details!
