Tracy German

Tracy German is a Toronto-based independent filmmaker, artist, and mother, who recently completed an MFA degree in Film Production at York University. Over the past ten years Tracy has completed a variety of media works such as a 16mm film loop installation entitled “Impeded Streams and Stains,” which was part of the Images Festival 2005 as well as the Fabulous Festival of Fringe Film at the Durham Art Gallery, and has recently finished a 37-minute documentary called Restless Spirits about her step mother’s participation as a rural Ontario rodeo calf roper. As well Tracy has co-produced and directed an hour-long documentary entitled The Elders: Time Will Tell, which was part of the Sheridan College/TVO Millennium Series broadcast on TVO March 2001, and has finished eight short 16mm experimental films and videos. A Private Patch of Blue, the most notable of these films, was exhibited locally and internationally at over 35 film festivals. Tracy has been a very active member of the Toronto arts community, were she has served on artist-run boards, curatorial juries, taught various workshops and helped in various capacities on commercial, independent and student productions. Tracy is a former student of and employee at Sheridan College where she taught part-time in the Media Arts Faculty in her position as Technologist.
