John Hopkins

Raised in rince Edward island, John Hopkins studied at Carelton University where he recieved a combined B.A. in Film and Political Science. Between university terms, John produced radio features for CBC-FM Charlottetown, CBC- Halifax, and CBC’s national program “Canada-Watch.” Since Carleton, John has trained in film production techniques, scriptwriting and distribution at The Summer Institute of Film and Television, Ottawa University, Ryerson, and Sheridan College under the tutelage of Phil Hoffman. John is a member of the Island Media Arts Co-op (P.E.I.) and L.I.F.T. (Toronto), and is a partner in Square-Deal Productions (Toronto). John’s film “Portfolio” won the Gold Award for all categories at Can Pro ‘90 Educational Competition, was awarded a Bronze Apple at The National Educational Film & Video Festival in Oakland , California, and received five awards by The Atlantic Film Festival including “Best Director” and “ Best Screenplay.”
