Jacinda Klouwens

When Melbourne animator/director J.F. Klouwens cooked up the concept for her latest work, “Granny Queer,” she wanted to create a character that was original, bent and just a bit naughty – and she’s done just that. After years of drawing kids’ animation, this talented artist set herself a task to create a different kind of character. “I find beauty in the absurd,” says Klouwens, whose own history is rich with anecdotes from a combined life of animation and rock & roll (she’s also a musician). Enter Granny Queer and friends, a motley collection of high-camp, bent and misshapen stars who shine in spite of their strange appearance and wilful eccentricities. Inspired by British 70’s comedy and a love for “adult animation,” J.F. Klouwens focuses on the silly side of human nature.
