Michael Achtman

Michael Achtman is a filmmaker, writer and actor, originally from Canada, now based in London UK. His short films, many of them collaborations with poet/writer R.M. Vaughan, have screened at international film festivals and galleries, including the Horse Hospital (London), Inside Out and SPIN gallery (Toronto), Image et nation (Montreal), Out on Screen (Vancouver), Squeaky Wheel (Buffalo), MIX Festival (New York), Zeitgeist (New Orleans), Dutch Super 8 Festival (Amsterdam, Rotterdam), and Out in Africa (Cape Town). His writings have been published in Playwrights Canada’s Perfectly Abnormal: Seven Gay Plays and Written in the Skin: A Poetic Response to AIDS. As an actor, he has appeared in several productions at Buddies in Bad Times Theatre (Toronto) and starred in John Greyson’s film Uncut. He made his UK acting debut at Sadlers Wells and on tour with Graeae Theatre Company’s George Dandin and he recently directed the Pete Edwards live art performance, FAT.
