Louise Botkay

Louise is a filmmaker and visual artist. She graduated from the École Nationale Supèrieure des Métiers de l’Image et du son in Cinema. Louise Botkay uses artisanal developing methods on super 8, 16mm and 35mm film, video, and cell phone footage. She has worked in several countries including; Haiti, Congo, Niger, Chad, Holland, France and Brazil. Her films were selected and have been recipients of awards at many festivals including; Oberhausen, Fid de Marseille, Vidéobraisl, Sao Paulo Film Festival, Brive Festival, Anger 1er Plan Festival, Fespaço. Recife International Window Movie Festival, among others. Her film Mammah was exhibited in the Christopher Grimes Gallery (Santa Monica, CA), at the Yerba Buena Centre for the Arts (San Francisco), Centre Georges Pompidou (Paris, France) and MAM – Museum of Modern Art (Rio de Janeiro, Brazil). She lives in Rio de Janeiro and works in Brazil and France.
