Jess X. Snow

Jess X. Snow is a non-binary film director, artist, author, and educator who creates genre-defying queer Asian immigrant stories. Currently an MFA thesis student at NYU as an Ang Lee Scholar, they merge eastern modalities of healing, community arts activism with film directing to create stories that explore intimacy, intergenerational trauma, and abolitionist futures. Their film and AR work is supported by the Tribeca Film Institute, BAFTA,The Smithsonian, and the National Film Board of Canada and screened at 50+ film festivals worldwide. Their large-scale murals can be seen in the New York Times, PBS, and on walls across the country. Their narrative short Little Sky, (2021) is distributed by HBO Max. Their forthcoming short, Invasive, (2022) is winner of the Alfred P. Sloan Foundation production award. They are currently developing their debut feature, Two Planets, One Wound (2023) a non-binary love story set in their ancestral lands of Jiangxi, China.
