Shilan Saadi

Shilan Saadi is a Kurdish filmmaker, photographer, and cultural worker from Mahabad, Iran. Her work explores themes of identity, resilience, forced migration, and the experiences of women affected by violence, combining personal narratives with broader political and cultural contexts. She holds a B.A. in Cinema from Soore University in Tehran and has participated in international training programs and workshops in Denmark, Morocco, and France. Shilan has served on juries and committees at festivals including Amed, New York Kurdish, London Kurdish, and Moscow Kurdish Film Festivals, and was invited to Berlinale Talents in 2019. She works as a director, producer, podcaster, and cinema educator, continuing to develop projects that amplify marginalized voices and document social and cultural realities.
