Chase Joynt
Chase Joynt is a writer and director whose films have won jury and audience awards internationally. With Aisling Chin-Yee, Chase co-directed No Ordinary Man, a feature-length documentary about jazz musician Billy Tipton, which was presented at Cannes Docs 2020 as part of the Canadian Showcase of Docs-in-Progress and premiered at the Toronto International Film Festival in 2020.

His latest short film, Framing Agnes, premiered at the 2019 Tribeca Film Festival, won the Audience Award at Outfest in Los Angeles, the Juror Award at the Ann Arbor Film Festival, and is being developed into a feature film with support from Telefilm Canada's Talent to Watch program.

Joynt's first book You Only Live Twice (co-authored with Mike Hoolboom) was a Lambda Literary Award Finalist and named one of the best books of the year by The Globe and Mail and CBC.

With projects supported by the Canada Council for the Arts and the Andrew W. Mellon Foundation, Chase's work is distributed by the Canadian Broadcasting Corporation (CBC), the Canadian Filmmakers Distribution Centre and VTape.


Chase Joynt est un scénariste et réalisateur dont les films ont remporté des prix du jury et du public internationalement. Avec Aisling Chin-Yee, Chase a coréalisé No Ordinary Man, un long métrage documentaire à propos du musicien jazz Billy Tipton, qui a été présenté à Cannes Docs 2020 dans le cadre de la Vitrine canadienne de documentaires en production. La première a eu lieu au Festival international du film de Toronto en 2020. Son court métrage Framing Agnes a été présenté en première au Festival du film de Tribeca en 2019, puis il a remporté le prix du public à Outfest (Los Angeles) et le prix du jury au Festival du film d'Ann Arbor. Une version long métrage est en développement avec le soutien du programme Talents en vue de Téléfilm Canada.
