Salazar film is a partnership between Nathan Drillot and Jeff Petry. Over the last 8 years we've been nominated for a Grammy and a Juno for best long form music documentary, been given over 14 Vimeo Staff picks, and premiered our first feature - Wizard Mode - at the Hot Docs International documentary film festival. (Catch it on Netflix in North America).
Our short film Handsome and Majestic, about a young trans boy in Prince George BC, premiered at Hot Docs 2016 and went on to play over 40 international festivals winning dozens of awards and being honoured by the BFI in their 5 films for freedom festival. Globally the film was seen by over half a million people online and is now shown as curriculum in the majority of schools in BC and Ontario.
Most recently we wrote, produced, and directed a 10 episode Viceland series called The Wrestlers. Each 1 hour long episode looked at the intersections of politics, gender, sexuallity, and religion that fuel independent wrestling. We traveled over a 100,000 kilometers, filming across the U.S., Mexico, Bolivia, Japan, Nunavut, and the Democratic Republic of Congo. The series premieres first quarter 2019 globally on VICELAND.
