Now in its 15th year, GIRAF (Giant Incandescent Resonating Animation Festival) is a showcase of independent animation from Canada and around the world, put on by the Quickdraw Animation Society.
This year CFMDC artists Sonya Reynolds and Lauren Hortie (MidKnife Films) will be helping to launch the festival and the publication On LGBTQ2S+ Animation at the opening-night celebration November 22. Their shadow-puppet animations Whatever Happened to Jackie Shane (2014), Midnight at the Continental (2015), and Meet Me Under the Clock (2017) will be screening.
Also screening in On LGBTQ2S+ Animation (Thurs. Nov. 21, 7pm) will be a selection of CFMDC films both classic and new:
