AN HISTORIC VENUE

Canadian Filmmakers Distribution Centre (CFMDC) proudly stewards the next chapter of CineCycle, Toronto’s beloved underground cinema founded by Martin Heath. For over 30 years, CineCycle has embodied Martin’s spontaneous, artist driven vision of accessible independent film exhibition.
CineCycle was founded in 1991 by Martin Heath and moved to the historic coach house at 401 Richmond in 1994.
For decades the space has supported Toronto’s alternative film culture. Heath’s projects include the experimental feature The Son of Tutti Frutti (1972) and The Mobile Cinema, an inflatable travelling cinema that toured Ontario in the late 1970s.
Now operating as CFMDC @ CineCycle, the space remains a vibrant hub where cinema and cycles coexist, bringing together artist-run centres, independent filmmakers, and Toronto’s alternative film community. We honour Martin’s pioneering spirit while continuing the tradition of intimate screenings, bold programming, and community connection.
Today CineCycle is stewarded by the Canadian Filmmakers Distribution Centre (CFMDC), continuing its role as a gathering place for filmmakers, artists, and audiences.
