Judith Doyle
Judith Doyle has been active in the Toronto arts community since 1978, when she co-founded Rumour Publications with Fred Gaysek (titles include “Kathy Goes to Haiti” by Kathy Acker) and Worldpool, an organization of artists using telecommunications technologies such as slow-scan video transmission, proto-fax machines and early portable computers. In the early ‘80s she presented projection-based performance art and experimental films at the now-legendary Funnel Film Centre, where she worked and curated in the mid-80s.
Doyle is also an author of critical writing and fiction. She was an editor of “Impulse” magazine for ten years and served on the editorial board of “FUSE” Magazine. Doyle teaches Integrated Media at the Ontario College of Art and Design Toronto.
Doyle’s experimental and documentary films have screened internationally. Her first feature, “Wasaga,” premiered at the Toronto Intenational Film Festival in 1994 and aired on Bravo!. Her latest experimental short, “The Last Split Second,” which premiered at the Toronto International Film Festival in 1998, is an adaptation of her 1981 performance “Transcript” at the Funnel.
