Kylie Eddy

At the end of 2003 Kylie Eddy wrote, produced and directed her second short video, “Coming Out At Work Is Hard To Do.” This short has had a dream run screening in competition at the Melbourne Queer Film Festival, Brisbane Queer Film Festival, Out Takes New Zealand and Frameline San Francisco Gay and Lesbian Film Festival. In July 2004 Kylie will be accompanying this short to Outfest Los Angeles with the assistance of a travel grant provided by the Australian Film Commission and Film Victoria. This year 550 shorts where submitted to Outfest from around the world and only 150 were accepted into the festival – “Coming Out At Work Is Hard To Do” was one of them. Kylie’s first short video, that she also wrote, produced and directed, is called “Test Drive.” This screened at the 2003 Melbourne Queer Film Festival, Out Takes New Zealand Film Festival and Frame x Frame in Federation Square. Prior to producing her own material Kylie Eddy completed a Bachelor of Arts in Media Studies then worked for five years in the marketing department of Buena Vista Home Entertainment as a product manager for Disney videos and DVD’s. While at Disney Kylie also studied for an Advanced Diploma of Professional Screenwriting at the Royal Melbourne Institute of Technology. It was here she conceived her first feature film script, “King for a Day.” The concept was pitched at the 2002 SPAA Fringe Conference and the first draft was shortlisted for the Screenwriting Lab at 2003 Outfest Film Festival in Los Angeles. “King for a Day” went on to be selected for Screenplay – a monthly reading of new film scripts performed by actors. Kylie has also worked as a script editor on short films including “Primary Love,” directed by Luke Rivett that screened at the “Best of the Rest Tropfest Showcase” 2003, and “Granny Queer,” an animated short film by animator/director Jacinda Klouwens that is funded by the Australian Film Commission. She is currently a scriptwriter for a children’s animated series in production called “The Kiptones.”
