Pat Mills

Pat Mills got his start in the industry as an actor on the Nickelodeon series “You Can’t Do That on Television”. He received his training at Ryerson University, where in third year he was the recipient of the Norman Jewison Filmmaker Award and City TV Best Film Award for his short comedy “The Affected Turtleneck Trio”. In his final year, he teamed up with two other filmmakers (Emily Halfon and Hazel Bell-Koski) to direct the feature “Secondary High”, a rough-edged triptych that was a hit at the 2003 Queer Festivals. His latest completed projects are “Babysitting Andy” (2008 Audience Awards: Inside Out Ottawa-Gatineau GLFF, Sacramento Int’l GLFF) “Don’t Talk to Irene” and “Marjorie”, a recipient of the National Screen Institute’s 2007 Drama Prize . Pat was a participant in the 2007 Talent Lab at the Toronto International Film Festival, where, using a Motorola cell phone, he made “Pat’s First Kiss” (Favourite Short: Image+Nation LGFF, 2008). He just wrapped “Do You Believe Me?”, a 48 x 2 online series and game (the Nightingale Company and BeActive). His next projects are “Six Stories”, an animation about childhood and “5 Dysfunctional People in a Car” (a Bravo!FACT). Pat is a 2009 participant in the NSI’s Features First program with Alyson Richards for the feature horror “The Retreat”. This past September, Pat was named winner of the Toronto International Film Festival’s 2008 Pitch THIS! competition for the proposed feature, “Don’t Talk to Irene”.
