Marjorie Beaucage

Marjorie Beaucage is a Franco-Metisse from Manitoba. She has a degree in education from Brandon University and studied filmmaking at Ryerson. She has worked as a filmmaker, cultural administrator, educator and organizer. He film “Bingo” explores one of the overriding concerns of her life: why it is that the rich always get richer and the poor get poorer? Marjorie uses creative documentary as a form of storytelling. For her, the collection and dissemination of First Nations’ history by First Nations people is an act of pride and remembrance. The lives of First Nations people are frequently only recalled and illustrated by white people, who have a very different perspective on First Nations history and experience. As a founder of the First Nations Filmmakers’ Alliance, Beaucage is working to change that history.
