    An animated meditation on the theme of satyriasis, the excessive and often uncontrollable sexual desire in men. Through the archetype of the cowboy code, “The Secret Loves of Jesse James” explores how the masculine discourse of the West is balanced upon a razor’s edge of intimacy and violence.

  • Bathers, The

    Three naked bathers gather at the river on a warm day in September. The film was a commission from Ladyfest Ottawa and the Independent Filmmakers Cooperative of Ottawa. Eight women were given the theme of sexuality and two rolls of Super-8 film. I wanted to capture something wild and free, unfettered by society – human sexuality in nature.

Sweet and funny, this coming-of-age story plays with the universal questions we ask ourselves as parents, children, and human beings.

    A film diary. 673 finger/toe nails saved, a large mess of 16mm rescued from darkroom garbage bins. The former adhered with nail polish topcoat to the latter, optically printed, and finished as a print.

    Art forms have been killing each other off for centuries. In an artistic autopsy, Aiken and Majzels examine the death of vaudeville. Through dance, performance and music, this film uses the trappings of vaudeville to tell the story of its demise. With a cabaret of sad double acts, aging burlesque dancers and tired magicians, the film takes a humorous and macabre look into the forgotten arts.
