  • Rub

Masturbation is one of life’s sweetest distractions. This experimental film is an homage to the pleasures a girl can experience, all on her own.

  • Broken Dreams

“Broken Dreams” is a beautifully filmed, evocative look into and out of the world of depression. Filmed in Super 8 and 16mm with a hand-wind Bolex camera, it captures the essence of darkness and light, hope and despair. Experimental images take us through a series of landscapes including the bleak moon-like setting of White’s Pass in Alaska, the unendingly high office towers of New York City, the eerie facade of the Carlton Hotel all alight for the Cannes Film Festival and then fall beneath the surface of the ocean to the depths of another world filled with undulating sea grass,…

  • Spaghetti 8

Super 8 gunplay – explosive scratching, amazing stunts and fabulous outfits – experimental artgak at its finest!

  • Parade

A hand-made film that explores a 21st-century ritual celebration – Toronto’s Gay Pride Parade (2000). The contrast between the images’ archival quality with the 90’s dance music makes us wonder whether we are watching an event of some forgotten culture, or something urban and modern.

  • Urban Caustic

Toronto, love it or hate it; the overwhelming chaos of the city, the noise and smog. Shot in three different mediums – miniDV, 16mm and Super 8 – hand-processing attempts to subvert the reign of video and “take back film” by shooting video onto film. The processes involved in making this film rely on the physical interaction with the film, creating a personal and intimate chemical reaction. The random rhythm of the optical printing, the scratchy, worn-out look of the hand-processing and the aural collage evoke an emotional and experiential response to living in this crazy town we call Toronto.

  • Varieties of Religious Experience, The

“The Varieties of Religious Experience” is made in response to Pope John Paul ll’s visit to Canada in 2002. This experimental short looks at the Catholic church’s official position on homosexuality. A Catholic boy leaving church cruises a passerby. Full of sacred and profane imagery: church spires, roses, Christ on the cross, candles, lace underwear.

  • fagtactics

“fagtactics” is an homage to Barbara Hammer’s splendid and sexy “Dyketactics” and begs the question: so what ARE those faggots doing on the train tracks? “‘fagtactics’—-the world awaits this funny, zealous, totally irresponsible boys in and out of briefs—come and delight in this irreverent salutation to my 1974 lesbian commercial, ‘Dyketactics!’” – Barbara Hammer

  • Remedy

Some kind of defense mechanism kept me from appreciating just how horrible he was. I had never been depressed before, sad – heartbroken – bored – yes, but not depressed. I guess it took me a few weeks to stop pretending that there must be some mistake. (LH)
