Transformational Vibrations (TV). Sound vibrations are interpreted as images in this abstract film. Resonating cycles of rhythm build until every frame contains a sound. This is an experimental animation created by applying both sound and picture directly onto the 35mm film. Once the soundtrack was created, each individual sound was assigned a specific shape and colour that repeats through out the entire composition. Visual shapes were airbrushed and hand-painted onto orange mask (negative film), then printed positive for further rendering by bleaching or scratching into the films emulsion before the final print copy was made. Sounds are made by hand…

The first vision is a pan of a river, which reveals the figure of Lilith, who represents female sexuality in Jewish mythology. Lilith gives birth to an owl, a crystal, and a glowing orb. • CARBON SKY

During the in-between period of the 2017 record breaking forest fires and the 2018 record breaking forest fires, conditions were often ideal in the BC interior for filming at a fixed place with a fixed camera. I would often return to the exact same location time and time again. Sometimes five, ten, or twenty times over a period of days, weeks, and months. The locations that sustained my fascination were more or less located in a geographical triangle from Kamloops to the east, Cache Creek to the west, and Spences Bridge to the south. My main focus was on the…

  • The Bed and the Street

A love story set in the global anti-austerity demonstrations. As citizens take back their streets, two women meet and fall in love. What geometry of desire will help overthrow the state? Cast in a palimpsest of images and sounds, as if there were no way to separate inside and out, the street and the bedroom.

  • Platform

A hand-drawn meditation composed with charcoal on paper documented on 16mm film. “Platform” explores train metaphors: “wrong side of the track;” “end of the line;” “fast track;” “bound for Glory;” etc. The Platform in the New York City Subway provides the architecture for this imaginary contemplation of the word “platform.” Be it a set of principal goals which are supported by a political party or individual candidate; a programmable infrastructure upon which software can be built; an architecture from which to speak or act; a political stage; or simply a place to board the train.
