    1 MTH/MIN crosses the spring of 2020 from the author’s main view of the outside world during this particular period. Each image represents a 24-hour scan taken every day from March 21 to June 21. Through the frame of a window, the landscape depicts natural phenomena: the flowering of trees, changes in the weather and the extension of daylight until the summer solstice… It is a reflection on space-time in a cinematographic form. From a sedentary point of view, this device explores the film’s ability to play with these dimensions by an effective compression of a really long confinement time.

    Drawn from lived experiences and memories, HOW YOU SEE ME tells the story of a Chinese girl navigating her thoughts on white beauty standards. She seeks to understand her relationship to them, and express the damaging effects and harm that fetishizing Asian women causes.

  • Petal to the Metal

    This hand-processed 16mm film reflects on botanical animism. It is a song written for night-crawlers, compost, and shadows, inspired by human flower-lust. Water, fire, earth and air are interwoven with the garden’s creature crew. The work draws a parallel between the photographic alchemy of cinematic experiments and the photosynthetic processes of plants. Honourable mention, Top Canadian Short Jury Award, GIRAF 17 (2021).

    This animation is about the symbiotic relationship humans have with earth and about a mother’s journey to seek justice for her child. The big foot tramples on a baby flower before it has the chance to flourish. Her mother journeys through the roots of the earth and sprouts into various forms of life as the tries to cling onto the memory of her child one last time. These particles decayed or combined over time to create everything that our senses perceive today while framing all the we desire and feel. Spark definition: An abrupt electrical discharge that occurs when a sufficiently high electric field creates an ionized, electrically conductive channel.
