Bouquets 1-10
“Bouquets 1-10” consists of ten one-minute films covering a variety of subjects. The procedure entails using the film strip as a canvas with the freedom to film frames on any part of the strip in any order, running the film through the camera as many times as needed. Each bouquet of flowers is also a bouquet of frames, mingling the plants to be found in a given place with activities that happen to be there at the time. Some people are too attached to their televisions. This film uses photocopies to animate one girl’s intimate afternoon with her TV set. As the world around her explodes with excitement, she remains plugged into the main drain. This is a love letter to a girl and the boob tube.

Pull over at the next exit and you’re gonna find sexy cowboys, donut eating, and black velvet paintings. The dreamy Super 8 landscape attests to how weird and alluring roadside America can be.

Cat of the Worm’s Green Realm, The
Flares of colour break into streams of light, leaves, wood grain and prism-etched vegetation. A moon lifts out of this dark weave to be replaced by autumn leaves against a grainy sky, a fiery sky. The moon, again, caught in clouds. The movements, moonlit, of a cat. Vegetation and toned flares (a kind of “ghost light” midst microscopic photography of leaves and twigs). A gray cat licks itself, its nametag reflected in lens refractions midst microscopic visions of ice and snow, autumn leaves, green leaves, a distant snow-laden green scene. Pomegranate Tree
“Pomegranate Tree” is an experimental film inspired by the lush and ceremonial paintings of the Qajar dynasty from Persia and Eli Langer’s violent, aggressive sketches. The film is a subtle study of sensuality. Originally shot on Super 8 and blown up to 16mm, the film was made for the Splice This! Super 8 Festival in the summer of ‘98.
