Shaped by years of media persuasion with problematic seduction narratives, “Some Day My Prince Will Come” is the creation of fantasies that viewers are encouraged to believe in. Through a reconstruction of these narratives, an exploration of how reality is co-opted by desperation guides us in to the mind of the viewer.

Jamie is an African-American teenager grappling with his sexual identity on the night Barrack Obama is elected president and Proposition 8 – the voter initiative to eliminate same-sex marriage – is passed. When one of his gang initiates the bullying of an openly gay classmate, Jamie uses his wits to try and prevent it, but when things don’t go the way he predicted, he is forced to face his fears head on. Madame Spinoza and Dr. Ramsbottom, denizens of an old age home and confined to their wheelchairs, are off on their wildest travels to seek the fountain of youth. Along the way they are assisted by memories of the past and resisted by the future of flaming youth. The vision ends with their nightly medication.
