COMING UP AT CINECYCLE
October 22: Final Girls Film Club

The final girl is the last woman standing in horror films–traditionally virtuous, intelligent, sexually unavailable, and sober. while her “immoral” female friends are killed off as punishment, she survives as a reward for her moral purity–granted only through the lens of patriarchy. We’re reclaiming the final girl archetype by showcasing complex female leads who defy expectations.

December 16: Plants on Film: Exploring Phytogram Animation Workshop led by Franci Duran

Join Multintto for Plants on Film: Exploring Phytogram Animation, a hands-on workshop led by Francisca Duran. Using 16mm and 35mm film stock, we’ll create phytograms, which are unique, camera-less images made by exposing light-sensitive materials directly to plant matter. While we will supply plants from local Ontario growers, we encourage you to bring your own meaningful plants to the studio. Together, we will soak our materials in an organic developer and work toward a collaborative group piece, which we will screen at the end of the session. Whether you are a seasoned artist or just curious, come explore the poetic, tactile potential of plant-based filmmaking where art grows from the earth. All film stock and photo paper will be provided.
